TA Associates Hosts Online Knowledge-Sharing Events for Portfolio Companies
Global CEO Webcast and Sales Leadership Virtual Roundtable. Focus on Navigating Unprecedented Economic Downturn in the Wake of COVID-19.
BOSTON – TA Associates, a leading global growth private equity firm, recently hosted two virtual events for executives of its portfolio companies that focused on addressing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 global pandemic and resulting economic downturn.
In late March, TA hosted a Global CEO Webcast, which was originally planned as a conference but was refashioned due to COVID-19. More than 70 portfolio company leaders attended, representing businesses from across the globe and in each of TA’s target sectors of technology, healthcare, financial services, consumer and business services. Presenting at the event were Brian Conway, Chairman and Managing Partner at TA Associates; Ajit Nedungadi, Managing Partner at TA Associates; David Kostin, Chief U.S. Equity Strategist at Goldman Sachs; Gary Pinkus, Chairman of McKinsey North America; Jason Phillips, a Partner at McKinsey; and Henry Schuck, CEO and Co-Founder of TA portfolio company ZoomInfo. Discussion topics included how businesses can adjust and adapt to the new and fast-changing economic and consumer realities, the importance of focusing on execution and customer engagement during this truly “black swan” event, and best practices for CEOs during the pandemic and preparing for the recovery.
“TA strives to facilitate connectivity and best practice sharing among our portfolio companies,” said Kevin Masse, Managing Director and Chief Portfolio Officer at TA Associates, who moderated the event. “In this time of unexpected and unprecedented disruption, that effort has gained added importance. We thank the CEOs who attended the webcast, and are grateful for the presenters’ valuable insights on the market impacts of COVID-19 and on how our portfolio companies can best address the challenges it presents.”
In April, TA hosted a Technology Portfolio Sales Leadership Virtual Roundtable. Sales executives from more than 30 of the firm’s technology portfolio companies across North America, Europe and Asia participated in the online event. Like the Global CEO Webcast, the roundtable was organized by TA’s Strategic Resource Group, which leverages diverse consulting, finance and operating experience to provide TA’s portfolio companies with strategic and tactical support. Structured around the topics of people, pipeline and process, the roundtable addressed issues such as managing and motivating sales teams in a downturn, and nurturing and engaging customers and prospects effectively while protecting the franchise value. Additionally, participants discussed tools and team structures in the context of COVID-19, and the evolving role of marketing and customer service.
“Our sincere thanks to the sales executives for their participation in the sales roundtable and for fostering a lively, thought-provoking discussion,” said Akshay Srimal, Principal at TA Associates and member of TA’s Strategic Resource Group, who moderated the event. “A primary TA focus is revenue growth, and we work closely with our portfolio companies with the goal of accelerating growth via salesforce effectiveness initiatives, pricing strategies, customer analytics and more. The roundtable and other events that TA hosts for its portfolio company leadership illustrate the value-add resources that we offer to help our portfolio companies reach their full potential and create lasting shareholder value.”
